October 10, 2021 – BHO labs are highly dangerous facilities used to extract THC through the use of butane. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office is committed to locating, investigating, and dismantling butane honey oil labs, which create a real potential for fires, explosions, injuries, and deaths.

What does BHO stand for?

Dabs or dabbing are the names for the use of concentrated butane hash oil (or BHO). It is a relatively new method of administering/ingesting cannabis that involves the inhalation of highly concentrated tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main active chemical in cannabis.

What is a butane honey lab?

A honey oil lab, also known as a hash oil lab, produces a form of purified marijuana that is extracted from the plants. The finished product is used in vape pens and marijuana edibles. Authorities say the butane used to make the oil is highly flammable and volatile, and these labs can easily explode.
