Nonverbal learning disorder (NVLD) is a learning disability that causes difficulty with motor, visual-spatial, and social skills.
What causes NVLD?
NLD is caused mostly by problems in the right side of the brain. Problems during pregnancy or birth increase the risk that your child will have NLD, such as: A mother who smoked, drank alcohol, or was ill while pregnant. Very long labor at birth.
Does NVLD worsen with age?
The capacity to deal with novel experiences often remains poor and may even worsen with age; thus, individuals with NLD often tend to be quite rigid in their daily routines and their interactions with others.
