Take sucralfate on an empty stomach, 2 hours after or 1 hour before meals. Take sucralfate around the same times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take sucralfate exactly as directed.

Do you chew or swallow sucralfate?

Tablets: Do not crush or chew (the tablet dosage form is not amenable to crushing or chewing). The sucralfate tablet is scored and may be cut into two pieces for ease of administration.

Can you drink water after taking sucralfate liquid?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label.
