The clamp is placed over the end of the hose or tube to be connected and when each ear is closed at the base of the ear with a special pincer tool, it permanently deforms, pulling the band, and causing the band to tighten around the hose.
How do hose clips work?
A hose clamp is firstly attached to the edge of a hose. This edge of the hose is then placed around a chosen object, and the clamp tightened, securing the hose into place, and ensuring that nothing from inside the hose can escape.
Are hose clamps adjustable?
Worm drive hose clamps are very popular because they are adjustable, easy to use and require no special tools—a screwdriver, nut driver or socket wrench is all that is needed to install and remove. A captive screw/worm gear mates with slots in the band to adjust the diameter of the clamp over a specified range.
