Bed bugs are small, reddish-brown, oval-shaped insects. They are 4mm – 7mm long, and loosely resemble apple seeds. Bed bugs have six legs, short antennae, and segmented bodies. Their bodies are flat when unfed, and swollen after a blood meal.
Can a bed bug be long?
The average adult bed bug size ranges from 1/4 to 3/16 of an inch in length. Their flat, wide bodies look significantly bigger after they’ve taken a blood meal, so a bed bug’s actual size varies depending on whether the pests have fed. Once engorged, the pest’s body expands into a longer, more cylindrical shape.
How do I know if it's bed bugs or something else?
When you’re dealing with bedbugs, you should expect large clumps of bites or bites where you were touching your bed, generally speaking. If you have bites that are spread out, in small groups, or in seemingly strange or random places, that might mean it’s not bedbugs after all.
