Uber uses your personal data in an anonymised and aggregated form to closely monitor which features of the Service are used most, to analyze usage patterns and to determine where we should offer or focus our Service.

Via the Data Tracking feature, we found that over a period of one day – which included a 20 minute trip – Uber used about 67MB of data. Considering that Uber constantly uses data for location tracking, this means that a 20 minute Uber ride itself will use less data.

Where is uber data stored?

Convergence of the Online and Analytics Storage A lot of our data sets are stored in both Online Storage systems (Schemaless stored in MySQL databases on flash) as well as the Analytics Storage system (Hive tables stored in HDFS on hard drives).
