In 2008, Irwin announced the closing of its DeWitt, Nebraska plant, ending 80 years of American production for Vise-Grips, citing a necessity to move production to China “to keep the Vise-Grip name competitive.”

Is Irwin tools a good brand?

In my experience they are a good brand. I have had many tools from Irwin over the years. They have all held up well and very reasonably priced. My favourite tools from Irwin must be the mitre saw, chisel set and clamps.
