Post curing is the process of exposing a part or mold to elevated temperatures to speed up the curing process and to maximize some of the material’s physical properties. This is usually done after the material has cured at room temperature for at least couple hours.
How do you cure silicone?
The temperature needs to be between 40°F and 100°F, and there needs to be between 5% and 95% humidity for silicone to cure. It can take as little as 24 hours to cure, or it can take up to several days if the sealant is especially thick.
What is the fastest way to cure silicone rubber?
Heat (Platinum-Cure Silicones) – Elevated temperatures will reduce the pot life and cure time of platinum catalyzed silicone rubber. Many mold makers will use heat to accelerate the cure time (demold) of platinum silicone molds. Humidity (Tin-Cure Silicones) – Will cure faster in humid environments.
