What is the difference between NPH and Lantus?
Glargine (Lantus) is an insulin analog recently available in the U.S. It is a long-acting insulin but differs from other long-acting insulins (such as NPH, Lente, and ultralente) because it is clear as opposed to cloudy. It also has an acidic pH and should not be mixed with other insulins.
Can you take NPH and Lantus?
We conclude from this study that NPH insulin can be added to intensive insulin regimen including glargine insulin, instead of short acting insulin in the morning. This regimen showed better blood glucose level on arrival from the school, as well as decreased HbA1C significantly.
