Killifish are some of my favorite aquarium species. Diverse in color and mostly peaceful, they can find a place in nearly any community tank. Many are semi-aggressive towards their own kind and have fascinating breeding habits as well.
The killifish or egg-laying tooth carps are very closely related to the live-bearing tooth carps (guppy, Mollie, Platy, and swordtail) even though they have very different methods of reproduction.
Can killifish be eaten?
Yes, killifish are edible. They are not poisonous or dangerous to eat in any way. In the wild, they are eaten by fish-eating birds.
