The park opened on 22 August 2015 and features a reconstructed, naturalistic headland based around the pre-1836 shoreline. After 1836, the original headland and foreshore was cut away to make space for wharves and stevedoring activities as Sydney became a major international port.
Who developed Barangaroo?
Barangaroo Reserve was designed by PWP Landscape Architecture in partnership with Johnson Pilton Walker. The development was completed by Lendlease Engineering (formerly Baulderstone) and was officially opened on 22 August 2015.
What was in Barangaroo before its urban renewal?
At the turn of the 21st century, Barangaroo was a disused container terminal – a physical barrier to the Western Harbour. Today, it is a dynamic cultural, residential, business and civic hub.
