Tetramethylenedisulfotetramine (TETS) is an organic compound that is used as a rodenticide (rat poison). It is an odorless, tasteless white powder that is slightly soluble in water, DMSO and acetone, and insoluble in methanol and ethanol.
What does rat poison smell like to humans?
According to the magazine, “the suspected expelled gas—phosphine gas—is colorless, flammable and explosive at ambient temperature and smells like garlic or decaying fish.” Symptoms of inhalation in humans include diaphragm pain, nausea, vomiting, excitement and a smell of phosphorus on the breath.
