Make sure you have your VHD file accessible. Then bring up the hidden quick access menu and select Disk Management. Then click the Action > Attach VHD. Navigate to the location of the VHD file.
What does it mean to mount a VHD?
Virtual hard disks (VHDs) are virtualized hard disk files that, once mounted, appear and operate pretty much identically to a physical hard drive. They’re most commonly used with Hyper-V virtual machines.
How do I mount a VHD in PowerShell?
- Open the PowerShell as Administrator.
- When the command-line window opens, you can run the Mount-VHD cmdlet to mount your vhd/vhdx file. Mount-VHD –Path “[location of vhd]”
- To unmount your virtual hard disk, just run the Dismount-VHD cmdlet instead.
