Beloved concludes with a group of women from the local community converging on 124 to ward off the ghost that has been haunting it. After Beloved disappears, Paul D returns to the house intending to make amends.

How did Beloved disappear?

As the local women attempt to stage an exorcism, Denver’s employer arrives to take her to work, and Sethe mistakes him for “schoolteacher” and tries to attack him with an ice pick. The other women restrain her, and during the commotion Beloved disappears.

Does Beloved get pregnant?

Beloved becomes angry and demanding, throwing tantrums when she does not get her way. Beloved’s presence consumes Sethe’s life. She hardly eats, while Beloved grows bigger and bigger, eventually taking the form of a pregnant woman.
