Do Boilers Have Pumps

Do Boilers Have Pumps

A central heating pump in a conventional boiler system pushes water that’s been heated by the boiler through your home’s radiators, taps and showerheads. Without this device, the hot water wouldn’t go anywhere. It’s usually located in or near the boiler or the airing cupboard.

Is there a pump in a boiler?

Inside your boiler, there is a pump that is sometimes referred to as either a central heating pump, circulator pump or boiler pump. Within the central heating system, the pump’s function is to circulate hot water from your boiler, through the pipes and throughout your home to supply your radiators, taps and showers.

How do I know if my boiler pump is broken?

  1. The water flow pipe isn’t hot despite the pump running.
  2. A water leak coming from the pump.
  3. The pump is making unusual noises.
  4. The pump casing feels hot.
  5. Some or all of your radiators aren’t heating up.
  6. You have no hot water.
