When Do Cloudberries Ripen?

When Do Cloudberries Ripen?

Cloudberries on the low lands usually ripen in mid-July, especially when the weather is warm and sunny. Up in the mountains, it takes longer for cloudberries to ripen as the climate is cooler. They usually ripen up to two or three weeks after the lowland berries.

How do I know when my cloudberries are ripe?

When ripe, cloudberry fruits are golden-yellow, soft and juicy, and are rich in vitamin C. When eaten fresh, cloudberries have a distinctive tart taste. When over-ripe, they have a creamy texture somewhat like yogurt and a sweet flavor.

Why is cloudberry so expensive?

Prices are high because they are hard to get. They are only found in the wild and you will have to walk deep into the homeland of the mosquitoes to find them. Water-proof boots and good local orientation knowledge are a must.
