Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark are an English electronic band formed in Wirral, Merseyside in 1978. The group consists of co-founders Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, along with Martin Cooper and Stuart Kershaw; McCluskey has been the only constant member.

When did OMD break up?

OMD split up in 1989 and it seemed that that would be the end. However, after lengthy discussions with Virgin and Paul, Andy McCluskey emerged as the sole original member of the band in 1991.

Why did OMD break up?

Well, I felt OMD was in a rut. Musically, it had become predictable and you needed more stimulus. We got fed up of not being proud of what we were doing or responsible for what we were doing. One of the many reasons we split up was that Andy tends to want an instant result.
