After ceasing operation in the early 1980s, Slingerland was acquired by Gibson, who briefly revived it and owned it until November 2019, before selling Slingerland to DW Drums, who have announced the intention of re-launching the brand.
Who makes Slingerland Drums now?
Founded in 1913, the Slingerland brand was frequently traded in sales through the twentieth century, eventually acquired by Gibson in the early 1990s. The Slingerland brand, relatively dormant until this most recent purchase, is now reinvigorated as Drum Workshop Inc.
Are Slingerland Drums any good?
Slingerland: Very warm sound, solid hardware except for the floor tom leg mounts (they do not kindly suffer overtightening), best chrome of probably any U.S. drum, one of the best deals in vintage instruments of any kind. Unless you grossly overpay, I can't see anybody being unhappy with a Slingy kit.
