Although the town of Edoras is no longer there, if you use your imagination, you can sort of picture where the Golden Hall of Meduseld might have once stood, towering over the rest of the village.

Is Edoras still in New Zealand?

None of the Edoras set remains (though every once in a while you'll find a nail or bit of wood that was left behind by accident), but it's not difficult to imagine Rohan flags blowing outside the Golden Hall of Meduseld.

What happened to Edoras?

In TA 2758 Edoras was taken by Dunlendings led by Wulf, who ruled the city until the following year, when he was killed and the Dunlendings driven out by Fréaláf Hildeson. It was here that Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, and Gandalf met with King Théoden in the year TA 3019.
