The entire town of Edoras was actually built on the mount, including the large great hall, and it was all taken down at the end of filming. Any diehard Lord of the Rings fan knows that no trip to New Zealand would be complete without a stop here.
Is the edoras set still there?
None of the Edoras set remains (though every once in a while you'll find a nail or bit of wood that was left behind by accident), but it's not difficult to imagine Rohan flags blowing outside the Golden Hall of Meduseld.
What happened to edoras?
In TA 2758 Edoras was taken by Dunlendings led by Wulf, who ruled the city until the following year, when he was killed and the Dunlendings driven out by Fréaláf Hildeson. It was here that Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, and Gandalf met with King Théoden in the year TA 3019.
