Creating a Park
Private owners deeded the land for Daingerfield State Park to the state in 1935. Two CCC companies, 2891, a white unit, and 1801(C), a black unit, built the park between 1935 and 1939.
When was Daingerfield Texas established?
Around 1840 or 1841, the community was officially founded as a seat of justice for local settlers and still was located around Daingerfield Spring. At that time, it was part of Paschal County.
How did Daingerfield TX get its name?
The community was named in honor of Capt. London Daingerfield who was killed in an 1830 battle with Indians on the site that became the town in the1840s. 1877: Titus County divided forming Morris County and Daingerfield became county seat. The Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas came within a half-mile of the town.
