A drop or beat drop in music, made popular by electronic dance music styles, is a point in a music track where a sudden change of rhythm or bass line occurs, which is preceded by a build-up section and break.

What is a drop bass?

In dubstep, the drop involves a heavy full bass line and commonly a "wobble" or "vowel" bass accompanied by a strong shuffling beat. There can be emotional melodies combined with varies of common dubstep bass lines.

Why is it called a bass drop?

It is called the bass drop because in early hip hop you'd play a section that is only drums so the bass and everything else drops out.
