Photographs are one-dimensional. Whether it's a print on paper or an image on the computer, it's flat. Adding perceived dimension to a flat image is what sets great photography apart from run-of-the-mill point and shoot images.
Are pictures 2D or 3D?
Although we live in, move through and see a world of three dimensions, most of the representations of that world are two dimensional. We view drawings or photographs on flat paper or computer screens.
What is a 2 dimensional photo?
A picture that has or appears to have height, width and depth is three-dimensional (or 3-D). A picture that has height and width but no depth is two-dimensional (or 2-D).
