The parakeet will begin to lay eggs one to two days after the mating process. Female parakeets will lay an egg every second day and there will be approximately four to seven of them. Baby parakeets will begin hatching after 22 to 30 days gestation.
How long do parakeets sit on their eggs?
Incubation Time
Parakeets usually incubate their eggs between 17 and 20 days. This can vary by a couple of days in either direction and is usually no cause for concern.
Do parakeets sit on their eggs all the time?
The hen will lay four to eight eggs, with one every two days, and each egg needs incubating for 18 days (sometimes a little longer), after which they will hatch. Sometimes she will only get the hang of full time incubating after the second egg has been laid. Any egg unhatched after 23 days will not hatch.
