Judy Abbott is an orphan who is being sponsored for a college education by a mysterious benefactor, whom she nicknames Daddy Long Legs. Real name: Jervis Pendleton. She writes him letters (other than a brief prologue, the novel is all letters), confiding in him about school, men and life in general.

How old is Jervis Pendleton in the book?

While he is 31 at the start and finishes when he is 36. In the book, I don't know if he counts as a paedophile because he doesn't even meet her in person until she is nearly 19 and only really starts courting her when she is 20.

Who called Jerusha to the office?

Jerusha Abbott is "The Oldest Orphan in the John Grier Home." On the day that the Trustees come to visit, she is summoned to the office for an interview with Mrs. Lippett, the Principal.
