Midterm grades do not become part of the student's official record. They are not calculated in any GPA, and they do not appear on any official or unofficial transcript.
Do midterms change your grade?
Midterm grades come at the midpoint of the semester, but not necessarily at the midpoint in the work of the course. There may be more graded work in the second half of the semester than in the first which gives your student time to raise their grade.
Does a midterm grade matter?
It is important to keep midterm grades in perspective. They provide valuable information to students at an important point in the semester. Students who make sure to check these grades, and who consider what they mean, know whether they are advancing smoothly or whether they may need to make some changes.
