Between 2008 and 2014, 2,800 pregnancies with Gardasil exposure were identified. Researchers found that inadvertent Gardasil exposure before and during pregnancy was not significantly associated with an increased risk of miscarriage.
What happens if you get the Gardasil shot while pregnant?
The vaccine is not recommended for pregnant women. Studies show that the HPV vaccine does not cause problems for babies born to women who were vaccinated while pregnant, but more research is still needed. A pregnant woman should not get any doses of the HPV vaccine until her pregnancy is completed.
Can HPV cause miscarriages?
No link has been found between HPV and miscarriage, premature delivery, or other pregnancy complications. Also, the risk of transmitting the virus to the baby is considered very low.
