Where Cyprus Is Situated?

Cyprus (Greek Κύπρος, Turkish Kıbrıs, ) is an island in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Turkey. After Sicily and Sardinia, Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Although the island is geographically in Asia it is politically and culturally a European country and is a member of the European Union.

Is Cyprus part of Europe or Asia?

By its political inclinations and membership in the European Union, Cyprus is a European country. However, it is an Asian country as per its geographical placement. This makes Cyprus a transcontinental country.

Is Cyprus part of Greece or Turkey?

It is culturally Greek but is not part of Greece. The entire island and the Republic of Cyprus is part of the European Union, though this does not quite apply to the northern portion of the island under Turkish control.
