In photos they look a lot like a teddy bear, but in reality they have sharp claws that can do some serious damage. They can move quick when they want to, and they are not defenseless. People always laugh when I tell them I have scars all over my arms from sloths, but it's true. They can definitely hurt you.

Sloths are not dangerous to humans if left alone in their natural habitat. If threatened they can lash out with their long claws which could cause damage. They can bite, and they can carry diseases harmful to humans. They carry creatures in their fur such as mosquitos which could pass on to humans.

SLOTHS are unusual creatures but that didn't stop researchers from being shocked when they discovered them lurking in toilets and feasting on human faeces in the Amazon rainforest. The two-toed sloths were caught at a research station quite happily scooping up a liquid poo mixture with their hands.
