Laser photocoagulation is usually not painful. You may feel a slight stinging sensation or see brief flashes of light when the laser is applied to your eye.
Is retinal laser treatment painful?
Retinal laser therapy generally causes little discomfort, but your doctor will treat it as necessary. Tell your doctor if you have pain because it can be a sign of a complication. Your vision may be blurry for 24 hours after treatment.
How long does laser photocoagulation take?
The treatment will take about 15 minutes. After completion of treatment your doctor may put an eye patch over the eye. You are to keep this patch over your eye overnight and can remove it yourself at home when you wake up the next morning.
