Blacklegged ticks are primarily found in the eastern United States and are particularly common in the Northeast. They frequent wooded areas and fields and are more common around homes and buildings in secluded or rural areas.
Where are ticks most commonly found?
Generally, tick populations tend to be higher in elevation, in wooded and grassy areas where the creatures they feed on live and roam, including deer, rabbits, birds, lizards, squirrels, mice, and other rodents. However, they can also be found in urban areas as well as on beaches in coastal areas.
Where are blacklegged ticks found in Ontario?
Blacklegged ticks live in woodlands, tall grasses and bushes, and are found throughout Ontario – including the five eastern counties.
