Wallabies are herbivores, and the bulk of their diet is grasses and plants. Their elongated faces leave plenty of jaw room for the large, flat teeth necessary to chew their vegetarian meals.
What do you feed a wallaby?
We do not recommend feeding wild kangaroos and wallabies.
- Completely avoid unhealthy (and potentially life-threatening) foodstuffs such as bread and other baked goods.
- Offer long dry grass and hay (not stalky) or specific kangaroo pellets instead.
- Purchase kangaroo muesli, available from most stockfeeders.
What is a wallabies prey?
Dingos, foxes, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, dogs, cats, eagles and snakes prey on young wallabies. Dingoes, Tasmanian devils and foxes also sometimes prey on adult wallabies. Wallabies defend themselves against predators by hitting them with their powerful tails. Wallabies live about 9 years in the wild.
