After first announcing the record in 2002, Dre finally admitted in 2015 that Detox was shelved because he “didn't like it.” It's probably just as well, because no album made by actual, fallible people — no matter how talented — could live up to such breathless, protracted hype.

Is Dre still working on Detox?

Dr Dre has returned to the studio to reportedly work on his fabled album 'Detox' once more, days after he was discharged from hospital following treatment for a brain aneurysm. ... In a new Instagram snap from producer Dem Jointz, Dre was seen with rappers including The D.O.C in front of a mixing board.

Why did Dre cancel Detox?

“I'm gonna take a little bit of a break, enjoy some time with the family,” he said. It's unclear what led Dre to stop publicizing Detox. Perhaps he decided to stop work on Detox to devote his full attention to new protégé Kendrick Lamar, just as he had done with 50 Cent and the Game years before.
