FSH injections need to be stored in the fridge. A second medication called an antagonist (Orgalutran) is then used to prevent the release of eggs too early. This is usually started 5 days after the start of FSH injections. This medication is available as single dose daily subcutaneous injections.

Where do you inject orgalutran?

Orgalutran is injected in either the thigh or the abdomen, usually near the navel. Pinch up a large bit of skin between your finger and thumb. Insert the needle at the base of the pinched-up skin at an angle of 45 degrees to 90 degrees to the skin surface.

How long does it take for orgalutran to work?

Pharmacokinetic parameters after multiple subcutaneous dosing of Orgalutran (once daily injection) were similar to those after a single subcutaneous dose. After repeated dosing at 0.25 mg/day, steady-state levels of approximately 0.6 nanogram/mL were reached within 2 to 3 days.
