Your risk of having styes increases if you have a condition called blepharitis, which is inflammation of the eyelash follicles. A Chalazia are more common in people with inflammatory conditions like seborrhea, acne, rosacea, chronic blepharitis, or long-term inflammation of the eyelid. They're also more common in people with viral conjunctivitis or an infection covering the inside of the eyes and eyelids.
How do I get rid of a bump on my eyelid?
- Apply a warm, wet cloth to the area for 10 minutes. Do this 4 times a day.
- Do NOT attempt to squeeze a stye or any other type of eyelid bump. Let it drain on its own.
- Do NOT use contact lenses or wear eye makeup until the area has healed.
