Renault group CEO Luca de Meo has revealed why former Renault F1 team principal Cyril Abiteboul was let go, citing a cultural fit as one of the prime issues.

Cyril Abiteboul has joined motorsport engineering company Mecachrome as their motorsport advisor, five months after vacating his role as Team Principal of Renault's Formula 1 operation.

Why did Renault quit F1?

Alonso had retired from the sport in 2018 when he cited a lack of on-track racing and predictability of results. The Renault boss Luca De Meo has reorganized the company in order to place a greater focus on key brands Renault, Dacia, Alpine and New Mobility.
