If you want a free tool to get rid of comma splices and run on sentence errors, having Grammarly as your writing tool (or essay checker) is the only recommendation I can give. GOOD NEWS: It's free!

How do you identify a comma splice?

What is a Comma Splice? A comma splice occurs when you use a comma to join two complete sentences without placing an appropriate joining word between them. The comma just isn't strong enough to do the job of making one grammatical sentence out of two.

Is Grammarly good with commas?

Grammarly has its flaws, but when it comes to commas, it's pretty accurate. The only situation when it could be wrong is if it fails to understand your sentence. If the sentence is too complicated, the app sometimes understands it in a completely different way and put commas in accordingly.
