Bleach will definitely kill the mosquito larvae, but it will most likely kill all the life around it as well. If you are treating a pond with wildlife in it we do not recommend bleach.
How long does it take for bleach to kill mosquito larvae?
Lethal (100%) concentrations in the presence of food were 16 ppm for 1st instars, 64 ppm for 2nd instars, and 250 ppm for 3rd and 4th instars. A single treatment with 250 ppm of bleach per tire (2 tablespoons per 5 liters of water) killed the larvae, but pupae started to appear 12-17 days later.
Can mosquito larvae survive in bleach water?
Bleach does kill the larva; unfortunately, it is not the safest method to rid your home of the mosquito larva. Pour the chlorine bleach directly into standing water such as pools to kill mosquito larva. However, chlorine bleach is toxic and can harm any wildlife that drinks from the water.
