Crowning happens when you're fully dilated. You may feel like you've already done so much work, but you may have a while yet to go. Hang in there, mama! This second stage of labor — birth — can take anywhere from just a couple minutes up to a few hours, sometimes more.
In which stage of delivery does crowning occur?
What Is Crowning? This is when you can see the top of your baby's head through the opening of your vagina. This moment happens during the second stage of labor, when you push and deliver your newborn. Once your baby crowns, you push out the rest of their body.
How do you know when baby is crowning?
During delivery, your baby's head will begin to show through your vaginal opening with each contraction. When your baby's head remains visible without slipping back in, it is known as crowning.
