Your camera works wire-free, powered by the battery. When your Arlo camera detects motion, it uses a WiFi link to the Arlo base station to stream video to your Arlo account in the cloud. The appearance of the Arlo base station varies, as shown in the following illustrations.

Does Arlo have a monthly fee?

Arlo will charge $2.99 per month per camera, or $9.99 per month for up to ten cameras, and that's to record in high-definition. 4K video recording costs an additional $1.99 per month per camera. So, a year of 4K recording will cost almost $60 for a single camera.

Does Arlo work without subscription?

Arlo cameras can be used on their own without any subscription, without access to a lot of the features and perks like motion detection, cloud storage, and customizable motion zones.
