In general, providers and suppliers revalidate every five years but DMEPOS suppliers revalidate every three years. CMS also reserves the right to request off-cycle revalidations. PECOS is the most efficient way to submit your revalidation.
Does Pecos expire?
Before you can log in to PECOS, you need a valid I&A System user ID. You will be sent to the I&A System website if you need help establishing an I&A System user ID and password, changing your password, or retrieving a forgotten user ID or password for PECOS. NOTE: Passwords expire every 60 days.
What if a provider is not Pecos enrolled?
Any claims for items or services that you have prescribed will be denied if you are not in the PECOS system. This applies to Medicare claims only. Not being in the PECOS system will make it difficult for your patients to receive the items they need and will prevent/delay hospital discharges.
