To apply for FEPS benefits, a tenant must first get a referral from HRA, the Homeless Division Unit, or the Housing Court Liaison. The tenant will be directed to file an application through a community-based organization, which can vary from borough to borough.
How do I qualify for Feps?
You must have an open public assistance case with full cash assistance and children under 18 years old living in the apartment. The case must not have sanctions. You must have a case in housing court for back rent and owe rent above the regular shelter allowance.
Who qualifies for Fheps?
To qualify for FHEPS your family must include a child under 18 years of age, a child under 19 years of age who is enrolled full-time in high school or a vocational or technical program, or a pregnant woman AND you must either have an active CA case OR, if you are in shelter, qualify for CA once you leave shelter.
