Pacheco Pass, elevation 1,368 ft (417 m), is a low mountain pass located in the Diablo Range in southeastern Santa Clara County, California. It is the main route through the hills separating the Santa Clara Valley and the Central Valley.
Is Pacheco Lake open to the public?
Although the total park area is 6,890 acres only the western 2,600 acres are open for public use at this time. Location/Directions: Pacheco State Park is located 24 miles west of Los Banos or 20 miles east of Gilroy off Highway 152 on Dinosaur Point Road. Operation Hours: All year.
Why is it called Dinosaur point?
The 152 famously is the bridge between the 5 and 101 highways. Dinosaur Point is a national park, which oddly enough, never was the home to any dinosaur fossils. The name was a complete mystery until someone flying over the area one day noticed that the point of land resembled a dinosaur's head.
