In computing, endianness is the order or sequence of bytes of a word of digital data in computer memory. Endianness is primarily expressed as big-endian or little-endian. A big-endian system stores the most significant byte of a word at the smallest memory address and the least significant byte at the largest.
What is big-endian vs little endian?
Big-endian is an order in which the "big end" (most significant value in the sequence) is stored first, at the lowest storage address. Little-endian is an order in which the "little end" (least significant value in the sequence) is stored first.
What do you mean by endian?
Endian refers to how the order of bytes in a multi-byte value is perceived or acted upon. It is the system of ordering the individual elements in a digital word in a computer's memory as well as describing the order of transmission of byte data over a digital link.
