In type 1, the extra urethra arises from the primary urethra and may or may not extend to the external genitals. In type 2, the extra urethra either arises from another opening in the bladder or connects with the primary ureter at the opening of the bladder and then extends to the external genitals.

Urethral duplication (UD) is a rare congenital anomaly and is characterized by two urethras, which may be either partial or complete. The UD anatomy is different in males and females and hence the surgical management.
How many Urethras do we have?
One is called the urethra. It is hollow and carries urine from the bladder through the penis to the outside. The other two tubes are called the corpora cavernosa.
