Vasospastic angina is a type of angina (chest pain) that usually occurs at rest – often in the early morning or at night - and feels like a constriction or tightening in the chest. Vasospastic angina is also known as prinzmetal angina, variant angina or coronary artery spasm.
What does a vasospasm feel like?
When a vasospasm develops in the coronary artery, the main symptom is chest pain often described as constricting, crushing, pressure, squeezing or tightness. Patients who have experienced hemorrhagic stroke are at an increased risk of developing a cerebral vasospasm.
Can you feel vessels spasm?
Coronary arterial spasms usually have no symptoms unless they're strong enough to cause chest pains. You may feel such pain during physical activities or stress. But it should be noted that only 2% of people who have chest pain are experiencing a coronary artery spasm or variant angina. Variant Angina.
