Because we have more data and therefore more information, our estimate is more precise. As our sample size increases, the confidence in our estimate increases, our uncertainty decreases and we have greater precision.
Does more data increase accuracy?
Having more data is always a good idea. It allows the “data to tell for itself,” instead of relying on assumptions and weak correlations. Presence of more data results in better and accurate models.
Why is data more accurate?
Data by itself is not a panacea and we cannot ignore traditional analysis. Researchers have demonstrated that massive data can lead to lower estimation variance and hence better predictive performance. More data increases the probability that it contains useful information, which is advantageous.
