This condition occurs when the skin and underlying tissue are unable to hold the breast implant in place. If there is no adequate support, the implant falls down below the crease. Bottoming out usually happens to women with little natural tissue and skin coverage.
When can bottoming out happen?
"Bottoming out" occurs when a new implant loses internal support (i.e., the underlying muscle is too weak or your skin cannot hold it in place properly). This causes it to sink down toward the lower part of the breast area.
What does bottoming out feel like?
Bulging or overly full look in the lower portion of the breast. Excessive distance between nipple and bottom of implant. Nipples pointing upward instead of straight ahead. Feeling that the implants have slipped out of place.
