When to Add Soil Improver?

A soil conditioner is a very specific type of soil amendment. It is usually added when you first begin to amend your soil or create a new planting bed, should your existing soil conditions require it. Compost can be added at any time - when amending a new planting area, as a mulch or as a nutrient rich top dressing.

When should I use soil improver?

A good time to fork over the veg plot, beds and borders- ready for new lawns, beds and ready for the Spring. It will reduce the likelihood of pests and improve soil structure – especially with heavy soils. How do you apply soil improver?

Dig over the area in question. Spread a layer of Soil Improver to the desired depth. Work the soil improver into the soil with a fork, incorporating it to a depth of 200mm, taking care not to disturb the subsoil. If working in a planted area, do not dig too close to the plants or their roots.
