Can Babies Have Pineapple?

Can Babies Have Pineapple?

Pineapple is known as a fun tropical fruit. While it is mildly acidic, it's still considered safe for your baby to begin eating by six months old. Keep in mind that the acidity may cause diaper rashes, and if this happens you can wait to try pineapple again when your baby is older.

Why can't babies have pineapple?

Babies just starting out with solids, from 6 to 9 months in age, should stick to purees to avoid choking. Babies between 9 and 12 months old may graduate to strained and mashed fruits. Pineapple is particularly fibrous, so choking is a concern.

Can a baby be allergic to pineapple?

They aren't common, but reactions are still possible. Raw pineapple, in particular, can trigger oral allergy syndrome — a condition caused by cross-reaction in allergens found in both pollen and raw fruits and vegetables. It's more likely in kids over 3, but babies and toddlers can be affected.
